Lightyear - 200 Kebab Shops Lyrics
Scarred elbows and a brainA lot less pungent but eventually it smells the sameOf out-of-date normalityA best before performance which I neededIts a drug technicallyGet in, load in, load outWe argue, we shoutSome lyrics, attention that we should payWe dont speak enoughI struggle to sayTen hours sitting in a vanWould probably even turnNoam Chomskys brain to spam(Deterring Democracy)Two hundred pubsTwo hundred kebab shops(Its doing my *****ing head in)Two hundred pubsTwo hundred kebab shops(Im a gold bullion with lead in)Bring me Ben Lee, a bit of dry groundThree sixty flips which I lost then foundBring me some strings and maybe two tinsA cheap talkplan but not too many ringsNot too many ringsNot too many ringsNot too many ringsNot too many ringsI realise IveBeen privelegedTo lead this lifeAlthough I need new shoesSo sometimes my feet itch and myCouncil of Elrond tells me to try something newTerribly Sorry Bob you cant take Bad KarmaMy Self AbusedOr my Crooked Rain, Crooked RainIm afraid you wont leave withSomething to Remember Me ByTwo hundred pubsTwo hundred kebab shops(Its doing my *****ing head in)Two hundred pubsTwo hundred kebab shops(Im a gold bullion with lead in)Bring me Ben Lee, a bit of dry groundThree sixty flips which I lost then foundBring me some strings and maybe two tinsA cheap talkplan but not too many ringsNot too many ringsNot too many ringsNot too many rings(Not too many rings)Well yeah, I find this really hard to do. I love being in a band, theresnothing like performing and playing live, and meeting people; butsometimes it all gets a bit too much. There are a few months whereyoure surviving on three pounds a day, which is three portions ofchips and whatever we can steal off the big headline band. Imspending that much time in a van with other people, its a bit of ahead***** to say the least. The point of this song was to say that aswell as seeing hundreds of venues last year, we also saw hundreds ofkebab shops; and that touring can be very mentally and physicallytiring. Its weird - normally on tour after a few weeks Im so tired Ibecome a zombie, get loose in the village and talk to anyone. Iconsider myself to love communicating with people, but I hate the waythat I develop this psychosis. I try, but shit just comes out which hasabsolutely no conviction whatsoever. I think that people think weremaking loads of money because were in a band, and I know I mightsound like a cunt but dont ask me to buy you a beer cause Im inthe band, cause Im skint; but Ill happily steal one from OPM if youwant. This is a complete ramble by the way, and I think that whenHousehold Name hear this, theyll be like What the ***** is Chasdoing? but I would like to say thank you for coming to all our shows;I really just dont understand how the band got from playing in Jimsgarage while I was singing down a headphone on a bamboo pole infront of two viewers, Jims dog and his sisters, to playing to thethousands of people... Im writing this five minutes before we do therecording. Im so sad.
